Staging Dystopian Communities: Reimagining Shakespeare in Selected English Plays

Among the countless afterlives of William Shakespeare’s playwriting there is a strong presence his visions state and political powers. In universal, philosophical ways Shakespeare was addressing issues concerning power, social organization, hierarchy, rank in what inevitably were origins modern, capitalistic societies. Therefore, many powerful images resonate today works contemporary writers who intend to compose stories utopian or dystopian character which diagnose condition modern society. This article aims present three plays by post-war English dramatists (Edward Bond’s Bingo, Frank McGuinness’s Mutabilitie, David Greig’s Dunsinane) reuse Shakespearian themes, motifs, characters build politically contentious subversive plots within narrower context their specific cultures, societies, historical periods. It assumed that Shakespearean legacy engage with not merely dramatic text, but complex cultural structure accumulated narratives, interpretations, myths rewrite recycle. The aim show how this multifaceted life work helps communities justice. other words, intends analyse visualizing societies through palimpsestic Renaissance master.
